ZOO Showcases ZOOpubs E-Book Solution

By on April 27, 2013

ZOO Digital, the provider of conversion and authoring software for digital book production, is showcasing the launch of its ZOOpubs (www.zoopubs.com) solution at the upcoming IDPF Digital Book 2013 in New York, May 29-30.  The ZOOpubs solution combines configurable, scalable Cloud-based workflow management with powerful ebook authoring and conversion tools that allow publishers to control all aspects of the publishing production workflow.

Designed for illustrated and visual works, ZOO’s ebook production tool ZEB (ZOO eBook Builder) is already used by many publishers, large and small, to produce fixed layout ebooks for the iPad (epub3) and Kindle (KF8).  Advanced authoring features also allow publishers to enhance ebooks with audio and synchronized read aloud, while also supporting readability features such as Kindle Text Pop-Up and Kindle Panel View.

Said Nicole Passage, Managing Editor of Open Road Media, “As a publisher of a large and ever-growing volume of ebooks, including children’s picture books, we are constantly looking for ways to efficiently create high-quality products. ZOO has helped us bring production of fixed layout ebooks in-house, which increases our efficiency and gives us more control over results.”

For publishers not only concerned about the conversion process, but also the entire production workflow, from design and editorial through to release for publishing, ZOOpubs offers ZOO’s workflow management platform, ZOOcore (www.zoodigitalcore.com).  ZOOcore is currently being used by major publishers such as Hachette Book Group.

As a member of IDPF, the global trade and standards organization dedicated to the development and promotion of electronic publishing and content consumption, ZOO is also pleased to be participating in a panel session with a number of highly-regarded publishers, Simon & Schuster, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, Open Road Media and Parragon, at IDPF Digital Book 2013.  As moderator ZOO will facilitate discussion on practical considerations when deciding on in-sourcing versus outsourcing of ebook production, and also encourage dialogue around publisher experiences.

ZOO Digital will be present throughout IDPF Digital Book 2013 as a sponsor, and will be demonstrating the ZOOpubs solution during BEA, in the Digital Discovery Zone.  “We’re excited to be involved in this year’s IDPF Digital Book event,” said Gordon Doran , President of ZOO.  “Many publishers that we’re working with are looking for practical solutions that allow them to effectively manage ebook production themselves.  That’s something we can help with.”
