Cheyenne, WY - A new software program designed to stop spammers in their tracks, dubbed SpamPires, has been released, and the software developers are confident their product will help eventually eliminate unsolicited bulk email, also known as spam mail.
The software program (http://www.doyouhatespam.com/) works by increasing bandwidth costs of spammers – eventually making their business much less lucrative due to an increased bottom line.
"Our software pulls bandwidth from known spammers from our users’ Internet connection, and raises the bills on spammers. If enough of our users are online, then we can even max out the spammers -- meaning they have no bandwidth left to send anything out," said Rob Sandusky, Technology Manager of SpamPires.
SpamPires’ software is designed so that computers running the software
will not operate any slower than computers without it. In addition, the software
is not intended to crash spammers websites or initiate denial of service attacks.
"It won't slow you down when you’re surfing the Internet or working
online. It isn't designed to crash the spammers’ sites, that's illegal
and we don't want to invite lawsuits from the scum of the earth. It will however
help you fight back and possibly end spam worldwide," said Sandusky.
Spammers who are affected by the software program can expect to see significantly
higher bandwidth bills.
"Their [the spammers’] bandwidth bill can go from $99 each month
to $6,000 per month," said Sandusky.
The program, which was released in early January, works better than traditional
spam filters because it stops spam at the source, instead of simply deleting
spam emails.
"There is nothing better than to stop spam before it is sent," said
Sandusky.
The software will eventually reduce load on email servers and decrease Internet
firms’ operating expenses. The developers of the software hope that the
benefits will help turn the internet into a more prosperous environment for
online companies.
