Through SCOx WSS, SCO customers can now easily transform character-based applications into new feature-rich Web applications. In addition, UnixWare 7.1.4 customers and resellers can also utilize specialized Web Services to easily integrate any system with any database within a Java and .NET environment.
"For customers seeking to extend legacy applications and data to the Web or wireless devices, Ericom PowerTerm Host Publisher, part of the SCOx WSS, is the cost-effective solution for today's enterprise," said Eran Heyman, CEO and founder of Ericom Software. "PowerTerm Host Publisher preserves enterprise investments in character-based applications while extending them to the Web and wireless devices -- without any modifications to the existing application business logic."
"Although the Web Services market is still emerging, many companies today are finding substantial business value in their Web Services initiatives, both in terms of reduced cost and increased agility," said Jason Bloomberg, Senior Analyst at ZapThink. "SCO understands the potential of this market and how Web Services technologies can help companies solve a range of application and legacy integration problems. The company is making solid moves to roll out its innovative Web Services-based products like the SCOx Web Services Substrate to its SCO UNIX customers and resellers."
The SCOx WSS components announced today include: Ericom PowerTerm Host Publisher, SCO WebFace, and SCO SQL encapsulator. These components provide a powerful foundation for building next-generation business solutions within a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA).
"The SCOx WSS enables, expands and extends business opportunities through Web Services, helping customers utilize the Web more fully," said Jeff Hunsaker, Senior Vice President and General Manager, UNIX Division, The SCO Group. "SCO customers can now lower integration and development costs, improve customer satisfaction and application usability, and put a commonly accepted up-to-date Web interface on their applications."
The SCOx WSS is built on industry Web standards and enables easy integration with any Web services-enabled solution including Microsoft(R) .NET and SunOne J2EE applications. SCO will also be providing Web Services support components and toolkits specifically designed for SCO OpenServer in the upcoming months.
