Google, the infamous search and advertising giant announced today of its changes to its AdSense program. The announcement was in the form of a mandatory email to all publishers. The email outlined new features of the AdSense program as well as the launch of the WebSearch program.

The WebSearch for AdSense program allows publishers to use Google’s SiteSearch in conjunction with AdSense to deliver AdSense ads on Google result pages. In other words, webmasters can setup a special text input box on their website allowing users to search their website. When users are taken to a result page, clicks on “Sponsored Results” are credited to the respective AdSense publisher, who is then paid for them.

Among the new features to the AdSense program is the “Google AdSense Preview Tool.” Google’s FAQ describes the new tool in the following statement.

“The Google AdSense preview tool is an addition to the right-click menu for Windows Internet Explorer 6.x, allowing you to preview the ads that may show on any web page. With just a few clicks, you can see what ads may appear on your new web pages, or make an educated decision on whether to add AdSense to your existing site pages.” For more information on the preview tool, visit https://google.com/adsense/previewtool/

Google also added new language support for Danish, Finnish, Swedish and Norwegan.

The channels feature was also expanded. Now users can create up to 50 channels for both WebSearch, and AdSense. This equals to up to 100 active channels. Channels allow publishers to track ad statistics individual websites or pages.

All current members of AdSense are required to accept a new user agreement. In addition to acceptance of the new agreement, publishers are required to designate whether they would like to be paid as an individual or a company.

“Google AdSense™ delivers text and image ads that are precisely targeted, on a page-by-page basis, to the content on your site. And it does it automatically. AdSense solves this dilemma by providing ads so well matched to the content on your site that readers find them useful.”

About Google, Inc.
“Google is a privately held and profitable company focused on search services. Named for the mathematical term "googol", Google operates web sites at many international domains, with the most trafficked being www.google.com. Google is widely recognized as the "World's Best Search Engine" and is fast, accurate and easy to use. The company also serves corporate clients, including advertisers, content publishers and site managers with cost-effective advertising and a wide range of revenue generating search services. Google's breakthrough technology and continued innovation serve the company's mission of "organizing the world's information and making it universally accessible and useful."”

It is mentioned in Google Adsense reports that "Revenue from WebSearch ads may be offset at the end of the month by fees applicable to WebSearch."

It is not known whether any fees is being charged for displaying websearch results. At the end of the month you may not earn anything.

I don't think there are any fees associated with WebSearch. Its not anything new. Its free from google.

What is new is combining site search with adsense.

I've tried our their new web search feature. It's nice, but I believe Google has a lot more work to do on it. Especially with the customization with the search form. Example: Character length
