If you look at the possibility of an upcoming “Gbrowser” from Microsoft’s perspective, I believe they should be concerned. The latest version of Mozilla Firefox was downloaded over 1 million times within 100 hours of its launch, that’s 10,000 downloads an hour! More and more people are turning to Mozilla for a web browser, but would they move to a Google browser? I asked Daniel Barrow, an avid FireFox user, he believes that there is room for complete success with Google’s upcoming web browser, but also room for absolute failure, “With Windows Longhorn being released in the near future, Microsoft definitely have an edge to market not only their own web browser, but also their search engine, for all we know this could be the end of Google altogether, however that may seem rather farfetched.”
Google’s most recent phenomena, Gmail, has proved to be a great success so far, while still in its BETA stages. Thousands of people fought for Gmail invitations, many even paid, it is possible that Google could introduce a similar system to their web browser, however, this would most probably prove to be more difficult that with a web based email client. With millions of software crackers around, you can almost guarantee that there will at least be an attempt to crack any form of invitation serial codes that the software may have implemented.
Talk of Gbrowser is spreading rapidly, it is believed that Gbrowser could be released, even if only for BETA stages, within the upcoming week, I say buckle your seatbelts and get prepared to surf the web.

Google as a company needs to stick to it's core product and if Google R&D does have a hot innovative idea do not tip your hand to the competition unless ready to implement. If they continue down this path I predict Yahoo! and Microsoft will squeeze them out of business within 2 years.
