In shared hosting environments, it is common to place many accounts on a single server; those accounts share server resources. Over time, websites have grown increasingly more interactive with message boards, shopping carts, and other things of that nature. Since some of these scripts can be resource-intensive, sites are using more server resources than every before.
HostRocket has recognized this fact and has taken steps to accommodate this change and set a new standard for shared hosting. While many hosts are using this consistent increase in interactivity as an avenue to increase prices by forcing customers flagged as having resource-intensive scripts on their sites to upgrade to higher priced plans, HostRocket has taken a more consumer-friendly approach.
Over the past few weeks, the company has evaluated internal policies dealing with resource-usage, client/server ratios, and account suspensions related to the excessive use of server resources. Keeping in mind that the average resource usage of a single site has increased dramatically over time, the company elected to cut the number of sites placed on each shared hosting server in half. This change will benefit hosting consumers who host with HostRocket immensely by providing more room to grow and exceptional levels of server stability and performance.
"We are committed to providing outstanding services that take performance to a new level for all customers. As the needs of those customers change, we change as well. By cutting the number of sites hosted on each server in half, we can be certain that all customers will have room to grow with reduced concerns surrounding resource-usage. Other shared hosts may take advantage of the situation at the expense of their customers. At HostRocket, however, we always put our customers first," stated Brendan Brader, HostRocket’s Chief Executive Officer.
