GoDaddy.com, a privately held ICANN accredited registrar, stirred controversy after a Superbowl ad featuring the “Go Daddy Girl” was rejected by Fox, the broadcasters of this year’s football game.

The rejected ad, which has been posted online at GoDaddy’s website, was immediately rejected by Fox, with an "absolute no way," according to GoDaddy.com founder Bob Parsons via his online blog.

GoDaddy initially purchased an ad slot from Fox for roughly 2.4 million dollars, and was later approached by Fox informing them that there was still another slot available.

"It was mentioned by our media buyer that we had been contacted by Fox, and informed that there was an additional spot still available. The remaining spot was the second commercial during the final two minute warning," said Parsons.

Parsons and his company have been widely criticized for purchasing the slots, especially since the internet companies who have purchased the ads in the past have later gone bankrupt.

"We were already doing everything that made sense to reach our customers using on-line advertising. We spend a lot of money advertising with search engines and other on-line media. These advertising vehicles work well for us, but there’s a large audience they don’t reach," said Parsons.

The Superbowl will hopefully offer a new method of communicating with prospective customers.

"To reach these other people, we clearly need to try a different channel," said Parsons.

The company will have multiple advertisement slots during the commercial breaks of the football game.

"Both commercials are 30 seconds and are scheduled to appear during the 4th ad break in the 1st quarter, and also during the final two minute warning," said GoDaddy Advertising manager Mary Diers.

Since the second ad was rejected by Fox, the originally produced "approved" ad will be aired during the slots. The ad will be a parody of a censorship hearing.

"It is a parody of the censorship that is taking place today. It shows a woman in her mid twenties... in front of, and dealing with, a fictitious… censorship committee located in Salem, Massachusetts. The reason our Go Daddy Girl is appearing before the censorship committee, is to show them a routine she wants to perform during a television commercial for Go Daddy. Mostly, the ad is funny," said Parsons.

More information regarding the ad can be obtained at Parsons official blog, located at http://www.bobparsons.com/.
